Costa Rica Adventure

If you want to visit sunny South America but are too concerned about security issues and local unrest in many of its countries, you would be thrilled to discover Costa Rica. This tropical paradise is spared the crisis shared by its neighbors but doesn't lack the natural beauty that travelers have fallen in love with in this part of the continent.

Cost Rica is home to dramatic coastlines, sun kissed beaches, verdant forests and rich fauna. Adrenalin junkies will find their own piece of adventure haven in several outdoor destinations in the country while laid back beach goers will discover a tranquil alternative to the crowded beaches of the major Caribbean destinations.

Your first glimpse of Costa Rica should be the capital city of San Jose. It's the best place to experience the cultural rhythm of the country. You may not want to visit each of the 33 museums dotting the city, but art enthusiasts will want to drop by the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design while performance art aficionados will not regret a go-see at the remarkable Teatro Nacional. If you are into gold or jade antiquities, you may want to check out the Gold and Jade museums while in San Jose.

If an exciting night life is more to your liking, you will not find San Jose wanting. El Pueblo is the place to go with its vast selection of clubs and restaurants. Sprinkled along the busy streets are charming art galleries and fascinating shops all inviting your attention. Or, you can head to the exciting beaches of Tamarindo or Jaco for all-night beach parties.

You don't want to miss the surfing scene while at Jaco. If you are a pro, you will find the surf exciting and challenging. If you are only starting out in the sport or just eager to try, you might want to take advantage of surfing lessons offered by many of the facilities in the area. Sport fishers will also find the area a good base for a challenging day at the open sea. Nature trippers should head out to the nearby Carara Biological Reserve for some exciting wild life sightings.

Eager for some adrenalin pumping activities? You will find Costa Rica loaded with plenty of heart pumping adventures. The Arenal Canopy offers an exhilarating zip line experience. If rafting is your thing, then you'll find the rapids of Pacuare River especially exciting. Just approach any of the major tour providers in the country and they'll easily take you to any thrilling ride of your choice.

Other exciting destinations include the Parque Nacional Turtuguero where endangered green turtles lay their eggs and other protected species reside. There is also the magnificent cascade of La Paz Waterfalls and its beautifully-kept gardens. Finally, if you find volcanoes fascinating, you may want to check out the erupting fireworks of Arenal (when it is active) at night for its spectacular display of power and beauty, or the azure crater lake of Irazu as well as the boiling waters of Poas.

This just goes to show that Costa Rica has something exciting to offer for whatever captivates you.
