For interesting glacier watching or the more adventurous ice walks, you can head to Mt. Cook located at the southern part of the Alps where you can lay eyes on the magnificent Tasman Glacier - one of the longest in the world. It is also a favorite destination for skiing and snowboarding.
The west coast also offers plenty of opportunity to enjoy the country’s unique alpine landscape. If you are itching for a one of a kind adventure, join one of the guided ice walks and hike along glaciers as you meander through forests trails, picturesque river valleys and dramatic gorges until you reach the alpine foothills.
Another spectacular NZ attraction is the breathtaking landscape of Fiordland located southwest of the South Island. Recall what you saw in the “Lord of the Rings” blockbuster movie and you have a really good picture of what’s in store for you in the area. It is also home to a wide selection of picturesque trails that’ll take you past lakes, fjords and mountain passes. Interesting walking and hiking trails include the tracks of Greenstone, Te Anau, and Milford to name a few. Be sure to bring your camera.
Queenstown is another must visit for adrenalin junkies. It offers a long line of thrilling activities such as paragliding, parachuting and bungee jumping. It also features the one of a kind speed boating adventure at the narrow gorges.
