Other than this little inconvenience, the birthplace of pizza is an exciting destination that should not be missed when in Italy.
Thousands of tourists visit Naples to take a bite of its mouthwatering Neapolitan pizza. You will know which pizzeria to visit when you see a long line of eager customers waiting outside. Don't let the queue discourage you, it is part of the whole experience and it makes the pizza even more enticing and appetizing.
After you have stuffed yourself with a whole pan of pizza, it is time to explore the historic center of Naples. Architecture enthusiasts will have the best treats considering that the city is considered one of the most architecturally diverse in Italy. You will find various eras of history well represented in the many structures and edifices scattered around the city.
For historical attractions, Centro Storico is the main destination to visit. It is housed in a 17th century palazzo and displays ancient sculpture, mosaics and artifacts from Pompeii and Herculaneum.
If you want to see more museums, head out to Vomero and drop by the Museo Nazionale Di San Martino. It has some of the best collections highlighting Naple's history and cultural heritage.
