"It's nice to have our last flight test aircraft to its fleet, "said Scott Fancher, vice President and General manager of the 787 program. "We have been focused on the completion of tests necessary for certification of 787 with Rolls-Royce engines, because this is the first model that we provide. A large amount of testing we did also applies to the 787s with GE engines and should not be repeated. "There is, however, a smaller portion of test that is unique to the combination of airframe/engine. In General, this portion includes noise testing, operations of extreme weather, function and reliability and extended operations. Furthermore, the test to see if the airplane maintains the same regardless of the type of engine and that the systems they work on both models is required. Some additional flight tests will be performed on one production aeroplanes, the ninth 787 to be built, but is not considered a full-time member of the flight flight test fleet. The 787 test program has recorded more than 1900 hours flights over 620 and completed more than 65% of flight test conditions for 787s with Rolls-Royce engines.
