Luxurious Beach Vacation at Brighton - England

England is not just all about great historical cities and charming countryside but also a luxury destination for beach-side getaways. One such destination is Brighton. What was once a sleepy fishing village has transformed into a modern seaside resort. Thanks to the railway connection to London in 1841, the city has become a continuous tourist favorite.

To experience the wonderful resort atmosphere of Brighton, take a stroll from Hove to the Marina and take in the pleasant views of the hundreds of yachts bobbing in and out of the pristine waters.

Continue to Brighton Pier and experience the old-fashioned English seaside carnival. Complete with carnival rides and other forms of entertainment, it is the perfect place to spend your afternoon with a cotton candy in one hand and a childlike wonder in your heart.

Pay a visit to the Royal Pavilion of George IV and check out the opulence of this city’s landmark. Don’t forget to have your photos taken with the palace’s minarets and domes in the background for the quintessential Brighton tourist souvenir.

To experience the locality back in the day when it was still a fishing village rather than a vibrant city, check out the Lanes. Get lost in the twists and turns of its countless alleyways offering many pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. Just follow a single route and you’ll soon find yourself in the middle of the city square where you can just sit back and enjoy a superb Brighton fare.

To complete your beach vacation, how about a visit to Brighton Sea Life Center? The facility is considered to be the world’s oldest aquarium that still operates to this day. It has an impressive collection of marine life that can be viewed from underwater tunnels. Children and adults alike will surely find this giant aquarium an exciting stop.

Brighton racecourse is also a must-visit. Even if you are not a fan of the sport, the panoramic views of the city from the top of the hill should be reason enough to check out the area.

There are also several museums in the city that are worth visiting. There is Brighton Museum and Art Gallery if you want to check out a state-of-the-art facility. For a more traditional alternative, stop by the Booth Museum of Natural History and discover hundreds of thousands of exhibits that include gargantuan bones and skeletons of dinosaurs and exquisite butterfly frames to name a few.

If you want a festive atmosphere when visiting the area, it is best to schedule your holiday in the month of May. This is the time when the city celebrates the Brighton Festival and the Great Escape Festival. The former is considered to be the largest international arts festival in the country while the latter is a musical extravaganza attended by performers from all over the globe.

December is another exciting month for a visit to Brighton. It is the time of the winter solstice when Brighton celebrates Burning the Clocks with a colorful parade of lanterns followed by a marvelous display of fire and entertainment by local talent.
