Escape to Lake Louise Alberta

This major tourist destination in Canada captures beautifully the picture perfect vision of majestic snow-capped mountains, turquoise blue lakes and a charming multi-colored village. Lake Louise has inspired countless artists to replicate its remarkable splendor as well as lured many outdoor adventurers to its spectacular surroundings.

Lake Louise is a tranquil getaway to those who want to bask in the bliss of stunning topography and serene atmosphere. It can also be an exciting destination to those searching for heart pumping outdoor activities. Or, it can be a haven of artistic expression to those who are looking for creative inspiration.

Summer brings bustling activity at the lakefront such as canoeing, fishing and boating. The area's friendly slopes are also ideal for trekking, cycling and mountain biking. Come winter, the lake is transformed into a vast skating rink for holidaymakers to enjoy. If you happen to visit in the month of January, watch out for the Ice Magic Festival and its fascinating display of incredible ice sculptures.

There is no better way to appreciate the entirety of Lake Louise's grandeur than from the height of the Sightseeing Lift half-way to the summit of Mount Whitehorn. For a historical view of the area, the Visitor Centre is the perfect place to visit. It displays an instructive exhibit of how the area came to be what it is at present.

For gorgeous panoramas of the surrounding mountains, the nearby Bow Valley Parkway is also a must visit. Take a car and go for a drive to experience a never ending montage of scenic mountain backdrops and breathtaking panoramas. You can stop by the Johnston Canyon for a short hike to Ink Pots Falls.

The Lake Louise area features world class ski resorts that should prove challenging to skiers of all levels. Nature trippers will also find the trails connecting to different areas of Banff National Park highly satisfying. The Wenkchemma Pass and the Boulder Pass are popular trails among hikers. Other notable areas worth visiting include short trips to Moraine Lake, Paradise Valley and the Valley of the Ten Peaks. There are also plenty of interesting sights to see in the nearby area of the Banff National Park such as the scenic Cascade Gardens and the Cave and Basin National Historic Site.
